WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Kathryn Denise Rucker Krepp, a prominent former Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) for Ward 6 and a leading voice for survivors of sexual assault and violent crime, officially announced her endorsement of Mike Murphy for the Ward 6 D.C. Council seat.

Rucker Krepp, known for her relentless advocacy for transparency and public safety, stated that her decision to support Murphy stems from the urgent need for leadership that prioritizes the safety of residents over political optics.

“During my tenure as an ANC leader for Ward 6, I witnessed the devastating impact of Charles Allen’s failed leadership on our community,” said Rucker Krepp. “I have worked with countless families victimized in rape cases that failed to deliver justice due to the policy failures of incumbent Charles Allen. For years, the concerns of survivors have been sidelined in favor of an ideological agenda that ignores the reality on our streets. We need somebody who won’t go to bat for a person like Rodney Williams, who was involved in the horrific sexual assault of a 9 year old Capitol Hill girl.

The recent shootout in Capitol Hill is just the latest example of a Councilmember who cares more about boosting his political image than serving the people in his district. We cannot afford more of the same. Mike Murphy is a leader who will listen to victims, demand transparency, and put the safety of our families first. That is why I am fully supporting his campaign for Council because of his unflinching willingness to take on entrenched power and pull it out root and branch.”

Murphy, a 30-year Capitol Hill resident and seasoned litigator, welcomed the endorsement shortly after securing the signatures necessary to be on the ballot in November, as he ramps up a campaign that has centered on restoring accountability to the District’s justice and public safety systems.

“I am incredibly grateful to Denise for her support and her tireless advocacy for justice in the District,” said Mike Murphy. “Her leadership as an ANC Commissioner demonstrated what it looks like to truly stand up for your neighbors, especially when the system fails them. For too long, the gaps created by Charles Allen’s policy failures have left our community vulnerable, and it is time for a representative who will do the hard work of fixing these broken systems.

I promise to deliver on solutions that fill these gaps and ensure that our justice system serves everyone, not just those with political influence. My priority is delivering a safer Ward 6 and a safer DC for all. We need leadership that prioritizes results over rhetoric, and with Denise’s support, I am more committed than ever to bringing that change to the Wilson Building.”

The endorsement follows Murphy’s ongoing efforts to highlight the mishandling of crime data within the District and his calls for independent oversight of the D.C. Council Committee on the Judiciary & Public Safety.
